Ms. Pinto’s Weekly Letter to Parents

June 1 – 5, 2020

Hello Salve Regina Community,

I know that this weekend was one filled with various emotions regarding the murder of George Floyd along with the many riots that have erupted across our country. We are in a time when many of us are overwhelmed by the continuous injustices that are impacted members of the black community to the point where we are running to any outlet to express these frustrations.

I urge all of you to use this time to think about what you can do as an American to be apart of making positive change whether that be taking time to address our own biases towards specific groups of people, or utilizing our rights to vote.  I also urge all of you to reflect on the best ways to provide spaces of understanding and healing for our students who may feel confused or deeply impacted by these events in anyway. Lastly, I urge you all to take breaks from the constant interactions with horrifying news and social media and engage with content that reminds you of the beauty and positive moments of how lucky we are to experience life.

Praying for change, Keep safe.

Regards,

Peggy Pinto
